The God Ptah

An Egyptian wood statuette of the god Ptah,
architect of the universe and god of creation.
He was known as the patron of the fine arts
and the spouse of Sekhmet, goddess of the power
of the sun and daughter of Ra.

The original gold paint was laid over gesso
and black pitch was applied to the head.
The eyes are glass inlaid.
The chin beard is now missing.

Third Intermediate Period to Late Period,
Dynasty XXI-XXX, 1075 to 342 B.C.
