Tsimshian Ceremonial Feast Ladle

Tsimshian ceremonial feast ladle, carved of wood, circa 1870.
The ladle is decorated with a frog on the face of the handle
and a raven surmounting the end of the handle.

Provenance:  Marius Barbeau Collection, Canada.
During the '40s & '50s, Mr. Barbeau wrote books for
the National Museum of Canada about totem poles
and figural sculpture from the Northwest Coast.
