Haida Argillite Totem

This very tall argillite totem pole was acquired on the Jacobsen Expedition to the Northwest Coast in 1881.
Jacobsen was employed by the Royal Berlin Ethnological Museum, which is now the Museum fur Volkerkunde, in Dahlem, Berlin.

It was probably carved in the 1840s, by the predecessors of Charles Edenshaw.
