Probably Northern Wakashan (Kwakiutl), circa 19th Century. Finely carved wood of complex form with corona, inlaid abalone shell, and painted with native trade pigments.
Provenance: Old attached paper states: "Purchased from the Hunt Family, Ft. Rupert, formerly of Blunden Harbor circa 1890." 1) Acquired by Ramona Solberg, formerly a professor at the University of Washington Art Department. 2) Subsequently acquired by Robert Ohashi, Seattle.
