This Colima redware ceramic water carrier, also known as a Cargador, is leaning forward with his burden as he sets out with his vessel of cargo, perhaps pulque. The deep red slip is decorated with black pigment to accentuate the details of his garments. The pot is secured by a tumpline which is supported by his forehead and a symmetrical series of straps. The surface has a beautiful patina, with copious manganese oxide deposits.
